Golden Tigers Basketball Falls to Rams
A second night of cold shooting from the field doomed the Brenau basketball team as the Golden Tigers fell to the University of Mobile 98-58 on Saturday.
The contest started at a furious pace as the Golden Tigers hung tough in the first ten minutes, keeping close with a score of 20-16. However, Brenau went through a stretch of tough shooting, missing on their next seven possessions.
The trend continued in the second half as the Golden Tigers got stops on seven of the first eight possessions, but couldn't cut into the lead.
Brenau shot 28% from the fioor and 17-29 from the foul line while Mobile shot a blistering 51% from the floor and 9-13 from the foul line.
Jasmine Butler (Gainesville, Ga.) led the Golden Tigers with a game high 19 points and 7 rebounds. The Rams were led by Deonica McCormick's game high 18 points.
"We had a tough weekend shooting the ball," said head coach Kris Stewart. "We had good shots, but it just seemed like we couldn't finish. The team played so hard, but between our cold shooting and Mobile's hot shooting, we just couldn't find our rhythm".
The Golden Tigers finish the first part of SSAC play with a 4-4 overall and 2-2 conference record. Brenau takes a break for finals and returns to the hardwood on December 10th when they travel to Waleska, Ga. to face Reinhardt University.
