Basketball Cruises On Senior Day
On Senior Day, the Brenau Golden Tigers basketball team cruised by Brewton Parker (Ga.) College 67-56 to finish out the regular season.
In the first half, the Brenau offense started sluggish, but a three pointer from senior Kaitlin Fleming helped kick start the offense, while Jasmine Butler dropped in 12 of her team high 17 points in the first half. Senior guards Brittney Wiley and Anela Durmic scored six and five points in the first half respectively to help give Brenau a 30-26 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Golden Tigers went on a 12-0 run to break open the game. Sophomore Kalin Williams started the run by scoring on a fast break layup, while sophomore Anikee Combee dropped in a reverse layup to continue the momentum. Freshman Que Turner assisted on a Maegan Kenimer basket, while Nekeia Brown also added a put back to put the game out of reach.
Brenau was led by Butler's 16 points, while Wiley and Williams each added 12. Senior Kaitlin Fleming added six points in her final game to help with the win.
Brewton Parker was led by Courtney Clark's game high 17 points.
The Golden Tigers conclude the season with a 13-15 record and will return 12 players to the 2014-2015 team.
