Golden Tigers Run Past Voorhees

The Brenau basketball team used a balanced attack to capture their seventh win of the season in a 63-50 win over Voorhees (S.C.) College in Denmark, S.C. on Thursday.

Twelve different Golden Tigers scored as the squad took advantage of their depth to wear down the host squad.

After being down by five at the half, Brenau jumped out to a quick nine point lead in the third quarter and never trailed.

Kalin Williams led Brenau with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Quinnesha Turner added nine points, seven rebounds and four assists. Post Nekeia Brown chipped in eight points and eight rebounds, while Anikee Combee scored seven points.

"This was a true team win," said head coach Kris Stewart. "We had some really nice performances from our bench and our guards continued to rebound well. It is always good to get a road win during December."

"We still haven't played our best yet, so I am looking forward to seeing this team continue to develop."

The Golden Tigers shot 44% from the floor while Voorhees shot 39% for the game.

The win was the second over Voorhees this season as the Golden Tigers defeated Voorhees 73-57 in Gainesville. Brenau has now won seven straight games after an season opening loss to Ave Maria (Fla.) University.

Brenau (7-1 overall, 2-0 SSAC) next travels to Young Harris (Ga.) College on Saturday for a 1:30 non-conference tipoff.
