Williams Selected as SSAC Player of the Week
Kalin Williams has been selected as the SSAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The senior guard was chosen for her performance during the week of Feb. 22-28.
Williams netted 36 points as the Golden Tigers closed out the regular season with back-to-back wins over Allen (S.C.), 82-76, and Middle Georgia State, 64-45.
The senior tallied 18 points and eight rebounds against the Yellow Jackets, before dropping 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds on Senior Day against the Knights. Williams notched her 1,000th career point in the victory over Middle Georgia State, becoming just the seventh student-athlete in Golden Tiger program history to eclipse the mark—despite playing just three seasons at Brenau.
The Palmetto, Ga., native also had eight assists, four blocks and a steal on the week. Williams was 12-of-28 from the field (.429) and 12-of-19 from the free-throw line (.632) in the pair of victories.
Brenau concluded the regular season 15-13 overall and 8-10 in league play. The Golden Tigers are the No. 8-seed in this week's SSAC Women's Basketball Championship.
Williams ranks among the SSAC leaders in free-throw percentage (10th, .696), points (10th, 345), points per game (11th, 12.32), double-doubles (11th, 3), rebounds (13th, 170), rebounds per game (15th, 6.07), defensive rebounds per game (16th, 4.07), offensive rebounds per game (18th, 2.00) and blocks per game (19th, .39).
With Williams' nod this week, Brenau becomes the fifth SSAC program to produce a SSAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honoree this season.
