Basketball Falls to Young Harris
The Brenau basketball team had their win streak snapped with an 89-59 loss to Young Harris (Ga.) College in non-conference play on Tuesday in Young Harris.
In the first quarter, the Golden Tigers shot 6-10 from the floor, but still found themselves down 21-14. In the second quarter, however, the momentum shifted to Young Harris, who held Brenau to 4-12 shooting to take a 12 point lead at the break.
In the second half, Dominique Patrick scored all 18 of her points to cut into the lead in the third quarter, but the team was unable to mount a comeback.
"We didn't execute our game plan or really compete with the same energy that we did during the first six games," said head coach Kris Stewart. "Young Harris has a very good team and we needed to match their intensity. We will learn from it and the lesson will serve us well during the second half of the season."
Briana Bell led Young Harris with 18 points.
The Mountain Lions shot 51% from the field, while the Golden Tigers shot 46%.
Brenau (6-1 overall) continues non-conference play on Tuesday when they play host to LaGrange (Ga.) College at 5:30 in Gainesville.
