Basketball Slips Against Mobile
The Brenau basketball team lost to the University of Mobile (Ala.) 61-51 in Southern States Athletic Conference play on Saturday in Gainesville.
After taking an 18-16 first quarter lead, the Golden Tigers offense struggled in the second quarter as the squad only put nine points on the board. The Brenau team defense kept it close as the Rams only scored eight points during the period to make the score 27-24 Brenau going into intermission.
In the second half, Brenau struggled to find their offense as Mobile outscored the Golden Tigers 37-24 to close out the game.
"We played very hard as a team, but struggled to finish shots," said head coach Kris Stewart. "We have to learn from this game and move on because we still have a tough stretch of conference games remaining."
Briah Woods led Brenau with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Autumn Dodson added 11 points and six rebounds. Jasmine Knight chipped in seven points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Mobile's Kali Koenig led all scorers with 22 points.
Brenau (14-7 overall, 7-6 SSAC) next travels to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) on Thursday for a 5:30 eastern/4:30 central game.
