Basketball Runs Past Truett In Conference Play
The Brenau basketball team used a strong defensive effort to defeat Truett-McConnell (Ga.) College 66-47 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Thursday in Gainesville.
After an opening conference loss against Reinhardt University on Tuesday, the Golden Tigers bounced back with a resounding win over the visiting Bears.
Entering the second quarter with a 15-13 lead, the Golden Tigers opened the period with a Cameron Mims short jumper. Kaylyn Brooks then found Mims on the next possession for another jumper to increase the lead to six points. Kierra Knight then scored the next seven points increase the lead to 26-16 to break open the game.
Autumn Dodson led all scorers with 13 points, while Jasmine Knight added eight points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Ashanti Brown added a career-high nine points, while Mims chipped in eight points.
Bralise Reese led the Bears with 13 points.
Brenau held the visitors to 30% shooting (17-55) while the home team shot 46% (26-57) from the floor.
Brenau (3-1 overall, 1-1 AAC) next travels to face Tennessee Wesleyan University at 5:30 pm on Tuesday in Athens, Tennessee.
