Basketball Rolls Past Columbia 72-50
The Brenau basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to defeat Columbia College 72-50 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Tuesday in Columbia.
With a 51-42 lead after three quarters, the Golden Tigers outworked the Koalas for a 21-8 fourth quarter score, including a 15-0 run to pull away. The Brenau defense forced 28 turnovers and had 17 steals as the team cruised to their 15th win of the season.
"It was nice to get a road win when we weren't our sharpest," said head coach Kris Stewart. "We had a lot of foul trouble early and missed too many free throws, but we stayed focused and had a really great fourth quarter."
"Credit goes to all of our players as everyone contributed to this win."
Autumn Dodson led all scorers with 23 points, while Ashanti Brown added 12 points and eight assists. Jasmine Knight posted 10 points and five rebounds and Sydney Haas chipped in six points and six rebounds.
Amber Sherrill and Imani Parr each scored 14 points for Columbia.
Brenau (15-6 overall, 10-5 AAC) next hosts Montreat (NC) College (6-17 overall, 4-13 AAC) on Thursday at 5:30 pm in Gainesville.
