Basketball Struggles Against #17 Bryan College
The Brenau basketball team fell to #17 Bryan College 87-56 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Friday.
A poor first quarter doomed the Golden Tigers as the visiting Lions outshot the hosts 45% to 22% to take a 29-10 lead.
Brenau answered in the second quarter with an eight point run as Lia Thomas, Madison Phillips and Kierra Knight scored on consecutive baskets to cut into the Bryan lead. Maggee Bolt added a jumper just before the end of the period to give the Golden Tigers a 16-12 advantage for the quarter.
However, Brenau was unable to sustain momentum in the second half as the Lions pulled away to take the victory.
Celine Vega led the Golden Tigers with nine points, while Lia Thomas posted seven points and eight rebounds.
Brenau (5-7 overall, 3-6 AAC) takes a break for the holidays and returns to the hardwood against Bluefield College (6-7 overall, 5-4 AAC) on January 5th at 2 pm in Gainesville.
