Basketball Receives AAC Individual Postseason Awards
Kingsport, Tennessee- Members of the Brenau basketball team were recognized for their athletic and academic achievements by the Appalachian Athletic Conference on Wednesday.
Senior Lia Thomas selected as a 2019 AAC All-Defensive team member by the conference coaches. The Atlanta, Georgia native led the conference in total steals (68) and steals per game (2.52) and was also ranked 19th and 23rd respectively in those categories nationally.
Sophomore Maggie Bolt was also named to the 2019 AAC Champions of Character team. Award winners are chosen as the best representatives of the NAIA's Five Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership.
Additionally, ten Golden Tigers were honored as AAC All-Academic Team members for their academic achievements. Team members include: seniors Kaylyn Brooks, Jalyn Brown, Kayla Mitchell, Emily Mote and Madison Phillips, juniors Jamie Bunting, Carmen Garcia-Pitarch Lopez and Maddy Zaferatos, and sophomores Maggee Bolt and Ashanti Brown.
Repeat honorees include Jalyn Brown, Bunting, Lopez and Phillips.
Honorees must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average and achieved at least sophomore status.
