Stafford Earns Second Consecutive AAC Defensive Player of the Week Nod
Senior post Kayla Stafford earned her second consecutive AAC WinWon Defensive Player of the Week award for the week of November 18th-24th, the conference office announced this week.
The McDonough native averaged 16 rebounds and 6 blocks on the week, including a 19 rebound, 7 block performance against Bryan (Tenn.) College. The standout set two new Brenau records, including blocks in a game (7) previously set in 2012 by Tatiana Khudiakova, and career blocks (82) which was previously held by Brenau Hall of Famer Gabby Harvey. Stafford also sits in a tie with Khudiakova for blocks in a season with 41, which she matched in the 2023-24 season.
Stafford is also the first Golden Tiger to receive back to back AAC Player of the Week honors.
For the season, Stafford is averaging 8 points per game, 12.9 rebounds per game and 2.8 blocks. She currently leads the AAC in rebounds per game (12.9), total rebounds (116), defensive rebounds (88), blocks (25), and is tied for the lead in total offensive rebounds (28).
