Balanced Offensive Attack Pushes Basketball Past Toccoa Falls
Toccoa, Georgia- The Brenau basketball team used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Toccoa Falls (Ga.) College 78-70 for the squad's first win of the season on Tuesday.
The Golden Tigers roared out of the gate as the squad scored 26 points in the first quarter to take an early 26-11 lead. The host Eagles stormed back in the second and third quarters to narrow the margin to 57-54 going into the final stanza.
In the fourth quarter, Brenau held off the Toccoa surge as the squad hit key buckets and free throws down the stretch to take home the victory.
Junior forward Caylie Long scored 21 points and added 7 rebounds, while fellow junior Kristina Peach added 19 points on 60% shooting.
Senior Anna Gliatta chipped in 14 points and junior S.G. Bertolini posted 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Freshman post Mariya Shields added 6 points and 10 rebounds.
Brenau (1-2 overall, 0-1 AAC) next hosts Clinton (SC) College (0-0 overall, 0-0 AAC) in the home opener on Saturday with a 3 pm tipoff.
