Cleveland, Georgia- The Brenau basketball team defeated Truett McConnell (Ga.) University 73-67 in Appalachian Athletic Conference contest to secure its fourth consecutive victory.
The Golden Tigers jumped out to an early 19-10 lead and continued to hold off the Bears throughout the second quarter to take a 37-27 advantage into the break.
Brenau continued to extend its lead throughout the third quarter to lead by as much as 21 by the end of the period.
In the fourth quarter, the host Bears pushed the Golden Tigers by cutting the deficit to only six points with five seconds remaining, but Brenau closed the game out to claim the victory.
Junior point guard S.G. Bertolini led all scorers with 17 points, while fellow junior Kristina Peach added 16 points, including four three-pointers. Junior forward Caylie Long posted a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard Anna Gliatta chipped in 12 points.
Ava Queen led Truett McConnell with 13 points.
Brenau (12-13 overall, 7-10 AAC) next travels to Union Commonwealth (Ky.) University (6-16 overall, 5-10 AAC) on Monday for an AAC matchup.
