Brenau Golf Finishes 12th
After a treacherous two days on the difficult Stonebridge Golf Club course, the Brenau Golden Tigers golf team placed 12th out of 15 teams in the Chick-Fil-A Classic golf tournament.
At the end of day one, the Golden Tigers found themselves in 11th place, with a team score of 366. Day two found the overall team score improved by two strokes (364), but the team slipped one spot in the final standings.
Individually, Kelly Garland (Albany, GA) led the way with a two-day total of 172, which placed her tied for 36th place. Johanna Jakobsson (Gothenberg, Sweden) followed with a 180, which was good enough for 55th place. Morgan Wood (Dahlonega, GA) finished one stroke back at 181, while fellow freshman Lauren Smith (Gainesville, GA) finished tied for 73rd with a 197. Smith improved 17 strokes from her previous tournament and finished with her best tournament this season.
The young Golden Tigers' improvement was head coach Damon Stancil's main focus, saying, "I'm very proud of our team. They improve with each tournament played and continue to do an exceptional job of representing Brenau University. We still have work to do in order to reach our goals, but the ladies have shown they are up to the task."
The team finishes their inaugural fall season on November 4th and 5th when they travel to William Carey University (MS) for the Southern States Athletic Conference Women's Showcase.
