Golf Concludes Fall Season
In their inaugural season, the Brenau University golf team wrapped up their fall slate with an 8th place finish at the SSAC Women's Golf Showcase.
Playing on the challenging Canebrake Country Club course, the Golden Tigers were in 8th place after day one with a team score of 367.
On day two, Brenau improved slightly, shooting a 365 for an overall tournament team score of 732.
Kelly Garland (Albany, Ga.) led the way for the Golden Tigers, finishing 21st overall with a total of 173. Freshman Johanna Jakobsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) finished close behind her teammate, tied for 23rd with a total of 175. Freshman Morgan Wood (Dahlonega, Ga.), whose second day score of 87 was a career best, finished 34th with a score of 183. Gainesville native Lauren Smith finished in 46th place with a two day score of 201.
"The team continues to improve, but we need to keep working hard in order to post more competitive scores," said head coach Damon Stancil. "The ladies always give their best and represent Brenau and themselves with the utmost class. That alone makes me proud to be their coach."
Now that the fall season has ended, the Golden Tigers will resume play in the spring.
