Golf Inks Second Commit For 2014
Head coach Damon Stancil announces his latest commitment to the Brenau University Golf Team with the signing of Sara Jane Bowers.
Bowers is a native of Statesboro, Ga. and is the daughter of Clark and Cindy Bowers. She is the 2013 GHSA Girls Junior Sectional Challenge Match Champion, the 2013 Forest Heights Country Club Ladies Champion, a Wendy's Heisman High School award winner and a three year letterman for Statesboro High School.
In addition to her outstanding athletic career, Bowers is a strong student who is very active in her community. She serves as a Bulloch County 4-H Board Member, has volunteered at the Statesboro Soup Kitchen and has donated time to both mission work and local nursing homes.
When asked about her commitment to Brenau, Bowers said that, "I chose Brenau University because from the moment I walked on campus I fell in love. Brenau has amazing academics which was what I was looking for in a college. I love the small campus feel and the history of the school".
"Brenau has so many opportunities for me other than golf. Brenau is everything I was looking for in a school and I could not be happier to call myself a Golden Tiger!"
Coach Damon Stancil noted that his latest recruit's experience will be a positive for his team: "I am very excited to have a Sara Jane on the team next fall. Her character and strong work ethic makes "SJ" an excellent fit for our team and university. She is an outstanding talent with the type of tournament experience that will enable her to transition to the college game seamlessly. The addition of a player of SJ's caliber will help us continue to build the Golden Tigers golf team into a winning program."
Bowers plans on majoring in Fashion Merchandising and is the second commitment for the 2014 season.
