Golf Sets Personal Bests At SCAD-Atlanta Invitational
The Brenau Golden Tigers golf team fought through terrible weather conditions and numerous delays to post their best scores of the season at the SCAD-Atlanta Invitational.
After rain spread round one over two days, Kelly Garland led the tournament going into round 2, shooting a tournament low 76 in the opening round. She followed up that round with an 83 and finished tied for second overall (76-83-159). The senior from Albany, Ga. earned her spot as an All-Tournament performer and finished with low 18 and low 36 totals.
Morgan Wood also played her best round as a Golden Tiger as the freshman shot an 86 in the opening round to hold 15th place. In the second round, Wood fired an 83 to earn her 17th place finish and back-to-back personal best rounds (86-83-169).
According to head coach Damon Stancil, both Garland and Wood persevered through tough conditions, saying, "After two days, 12 ½ hours on the golf course plus a three hour delay, both young ladies posted their best scores of the year, with Kelly setting her highest individual finish and Morgan setting the best of her entire competitive career".
"They have used hard work, strong character and strength of faith to make this a very special team. I couldn't be more proud".
The Golden Tigers next play on March 31st at the UNCG/Chik-Fil-A Spring Invitational.
