Wood Named SSAC Golfer of the Week
Morgan Wood has been selected as the SSAC Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. The sophomore from Dahlonega, Ga.,was chosen for her performance during the week of March 16-22.
Wood won the first individual title in the two-year history of the Golden Tigers golf program, claiming the tournament victory at the SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) Spring Invitational on March 16 in a sudden-death playoff over Ashley Madden of host institution SCAD Atlanta.
Wood carded a 12-over par 36-hole score of 154, a personal best, to earn a spot in the sudden-death playoff at the par-71, 5,806-yard The Oaks at Buckhead in Atlanta, Ga.
The sophomore shot identical scores of six-over par 77 in the first and second rounds—with her second-round total being the low for the day.
Brenau shot a 108-over par (676) as a team, a program-record, to place fifth in the seven-team field. The Golden Tigers bested Truett-McConnell (Ga.) and Bryan (Tenn.) at the event.
Wood owns an 83.57 scoring average over 14 rounds this season and has tallied 12 birdies on the year.
She is the first-ever SSAC Women's Golfer of the Week from Brenau.
