Golf Wraps Up SCAD-Invitational
The Brenau golf team closed out the SACD-Atlanta Fall Invitational with a seventh place finish at The Oaks Golf Course in Covington, Georgia on Wednesday.
After a strong opening round 304, the Golden Tigers struggled to match their first day successes, dropping 12 strokes from their opening round to shoot a 316 in the final round to close out the tournament.
Numerous team records were set during the invitational as the two-day total of 304 was 22 shots better than any previous one day total in program history. The final team total of 620 is also a team record.
Sara Jane Bowers shot a 71-77-148 to place in a tie for tenth place, while Morgan Wood finished 22nd with a two day score of 76-79-155.
Bowers' also set two individual Brenau totals as both her single round 71 and her two-day total of 148 were program individual records.
Sophomore Amber Clayton shot a consistent 78-78-156 to finish in a tie for 23rd, while fellow sophomore Megan Reddick placed in a tie for 29th with a 79-82-161. Freshman Kayla Watson wrapped up her first collegiate tournament in 40th place with an 88-84-172.
Host SCAD-Atlanta won the tournament with a two-day team total of 572 (+4), while Southern States Athletic Conference member Dalton State (Ga.) placed second with a 578 (+10). Campbellsville (Ky.) University (589, +21), Faulkner (Ala.) University (613, +28) and Point (Ga.) University (613, +45) rounded out the top five.
Brenau next travels to the Truett-McConnell Invitational in Cleveland, Ga. on Monday.
