Golf Drops to Fifth at SSAC Championships
The Brenau golf team dropped one spot to fifth place after day two of the 2017 Southern States Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships at Arrowhead Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama.
On the second day of the three-day event, the Golden Tigers matched their first day team score of 319 for a two-day total of 638 (+62) on the Par-72, 5,816-yard course. The team trails Dalton State (Ga.) College (606), William Carey (Miss.) University (609), Faulkner (Ala.) University (617) and Loyola (La.) University (635).
Individually, Sara Jane Bowers and Morgan Wood each had strong second round scores to tie for eighth place. Bowers improved on her opening round score by six strokes to post an 81-75-156, while Wood lowered her initial offering by four strokes with an 80-76-156 to sit at 12-over par.
Megan Reddick continued her solid tournament play with a two-day total 78-80-158 (+14) to place in a tie for 14th, while freshman Ashley Omidi posted an 80-88-168 (+24) to finish 28th. Amber Clayton also placed in a tie for 34th with a consistent 91-91-182 (+38).
The University of Mobile (Ala.) shot 344-344-688 (+112) for sixth place, while Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College 368-346-714 (+138) and Bethel (Tenn.) University 365-353-718 (+142) and round out the field.
