Golf Recognized by AAC for Academic Achievements
Kingsport, Tennessee- Members of the Brenau golf team received recognition from the Appalachian Athletic Conference for their academic achievements, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Junior Macie Hurst and senior Niquole Mangal were each named as 2020 AAC All-Academic team members for their outstanding academic performance.
"Niquole and Macie have really worked both in the classroom and on the course," said head coach Jason Di Jiacomo. "It's not always easy to keep up your grades with all the travel and commitments you take on as an athlete."
Freshman Abby Akin was also named as the Brenau Champions of Character recipient. Honorees are selected as the student-athletes that best model the NAIA's Five Core Values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
"Abby has come in and been an outstanding show of support and a great teammate," said De Jiacomo. She is definitely a champion of character!"
"I am very proud of all three of these players and the hard work they put in to be recognized for these achievements. All of the BU players take great pride in themselves and what they do and these achievements display that! Congratulations! They've earned it!"
To make the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must carry a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.25 and be a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student.
