Golf Finishes Fourth at Skyhawk Invitational
Pine Mountain, Georgia- The Brenau golf team placed fourth at the Skyhawk Invitational at The Lake View golf course at Callaway Gardens on Monday and Tuesday.
In the first match of the spring season, the squad shot a two-day total of 666 (+41) to place fourth in a solid field of teams.
Individually, senior Macie Hurst led the Golden Tigers with a T12th place finish. The Flowery Branch, Ga. native shot a consistent 82-80-162 to finish 18 strokes over par.
Fellow senior Annika Blanton also had a strong showing, finishing only one shot behind Hurst with an 82-81-163 to tie for 16th place.
Freshman Ylenia Bennasar rebounded from a sluggish first day to fire a 77 on day two of competition to rally to a 91-77-168 to place T24.
Sophomore Haylee Rhodes added an 82-91-172 to place T32 and fellow sophomore McKenzie McRee added a 92-92-184 to place 45th.
Southeastern's Ana Uribe won individual medalist honors with a 71-71-142 (-2).
Southeastern University (Fla.) also won top team honors with a 605 (+12), while Indiana Wesleyan University (+21) and Truett McConnell University (Ga.) (+55) round out the top three team finishers.
The team will next compete when the team hosts the Golden Tigers Invitational on March 15th and 16th.
