Baker and Boyd pace Brenau with top 20 finishes at the AAC Conference Championship
Acworth, GA- The Brenau golf team competed in the AAC Conference Championship the past few days at Governors Towne Club in Acworth. The Golden Tigers were greeted with sunshine and high winds as they competed with eight other AAC teams for the championship.
Sasha Baker, in her final event as a Golden Tiger posted her best finish at Conference overall (17th) and best 18-hole round with a 78. Morela Boyd, struggled to find her game in the first 18 but was still able to put together two solid rounds and join Baker in the top 20 with a 19th place finish
Harper Davis played well on the first 18 and faded a bit on the next 36 and ended up finishing in 30th place.
When asked about his players performance after the championship here's what Coach Elam had to say: "After a slow start in the first 18 holes we really put things together and played a very solid final 36. Baker improved her score each round and capped it off with a spectacular final nine holes of E par. Boyd showed a lot of mental toughness after her tough start to post a finish to build on for next year. Davis put on her best tee to green performance of the season. Once we get her putting on track, she will become a true force on the course."
A huge thanks goes out to Reinhardt University and Head Coach Evans Nichols on hosting another great conference championship! The Golden Tigers 2024-2025 campaign has come to a close and they look forward to competing as a team once again next fall.
