Boyd and Minish lead Brenau to best finish in Fall Conference since 2022.
Acworth, GA - The Golden Tigers turned in their best result of the Fall and their best result at the AAC Fall Showcase in several years with a fifth-place finish.
Reinhardt hosted this year's Fall Showcase with 11 teams all from the AAC participating in the tournament. Brenau competed against a field of 64 players (several ranked inside the top 100 nationally), who faced the very challenging layout of Governors Towne Club.
Senior Morela Boyd and Freshman Emily Minish led Brenau with a top 10 and top 25 finish respectively. After a slow start Boyd bounced back in round two and three with a pair of 76s. This was Minish's most complete performance of the season with three rounds in the low 80s. Audrey Bacic struggled a little on day one but was able to finish strong and post an 80 in the final round. Lainey Addison and Harper Davis were able to counter balance each other well on day one. Addison posted a +19 round for the fourth counting score in the first round. Davis was able to post a +22 score in round two for Brenau's final counting score.
When asked about his players' performance after the tournament and his overall thoughts on the fall, head coach Mark Elam said, "The teams in conference that beat us are all ranked in the top 25. We will use the off-season to try and be a bit more competitive against those top teams in the Spring. I am really proud of how our team has come together to shoot a couple of really good scores toward the end of the fall. Our four freshmen have done an amazing job competing and getting better each and every day. I can not wait to see how they continue to grow!"
The Golden Tigers start the off-season next week. The official Spring schedule will drop in the next couple of weeks.
