Lacrosse Comes Up Short in Non-Conference Matchup
Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau lacrosse team came up just short in a 19-11 loss to Warren Wilson (NC) College in a non-conference match on Tuesday.
The visiting Owls stormed out to an early 6-0 advantage until freshman Lindsey Bowbliss beat keeper Hayden Drescher for her first goal of the match.
Warren Wilson continued to stretch the lead into the second quarter until Bowbliss scored three goals in the period to cut the deficit to 11-4 going into intermission. In total, Bowbliss tallied seven goals in the match to increase her season total to 25 goals.
After the break, the Golden Tigers started finding the back of the net as sophomore Kiara Nagy added two goals, while senior Samantha Glover and freshman Ali Drake each scored. However, the visitors held off the charge to pull away with a 19-11 victory.
Brenau held a 26-21 in ground balls, but Warren Wilson dominated the draw with a 21-13 advantage.
Brenau keeper Emily Nix saved eight shots in the loss, while Drescher saved 16 for Warren Wilson.
