Lacrosse to Postpone Program for 2023-24

The lacrosse team, which has been competing as a member of the NAIA and the Appalachian Athletic Conference, just completed the 2023 season.  Due to declining rosters and challenges fielding a team, Brenau University will not sponsor a lacrosse team this upcoming academic year.

The university has made this decision carefully and with current team members, coaches, and alums in mind. This decision was made in the best interest and long-term consideration of the university and the Athletics Department as the landscape of collegiate sports continues to change. 

Approximately 20% of students in The Women’s College are athletes and the university remains committed to sponsoring athletic program offerings that will provide opportunities for competition and enhance the college experience for participants. 

Brenau will continue to evaluate the long-term potential for lacrosse, as well as explore opportunities for new sport offerings for future growth in athletics.

We welcome all of our lacrosse athletes to remain at Brenau, and the university will continue to fund the existing scholarships for current team members who were recruited for lacrosse.
