SCAD Outlasts Brenau in Soccer

Gainesville, GA- The Brenau soccer team came out on the short end of a 3-1 game today at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex against SCAD. Both teams were mentioned in the NAIA Pre-Season Soccer Poll, with SCAD coming in at #15 and BU receiving votes. Innis Ette and Marilyn Anderson played exceptional defense for the contest, with Ette marking SCAD's best forward and shutting her out.SCAD scored first off a crossing shot from the corner at the 27 minute mark of the first half, and Junior Midfielder Lauren Hagin (Hiram) scored her first goal of the season with five minutes left in the first half on an assist from Leanne Rowley. The visitors added two more goals in the second half as the results of the flu that has slowed several key players this week took affect. Brenau had six shots on goal, with Senior All-Conference Lily Futrell hitting the goalpost twice in shots that might have changed the outcome of the game. Junior All Conference goalie Lisa Lesnick was credited with five saves. SCAD had eight shots on goal, but committed 12 fouls in the game compared to nine for the Tigers. Brenau falls to 2-2-1 on the season with SCAD picking up their first win after three straight losses. Next up for the Tigers will be a match on Sept. 17th at Truett McConnell in Cleveland at 4pm.
