Tigers Win Third Straight

Franklin Springs, GA- The Brenau soccer team won their third straight game today and opened up conference play with a 1-0 shutout of Emmanuel College. With the win, the Tigers move to 5-2-1 on the season while Emmanuel drops to 1-4 and 2-5. Junior Lauren Hagin (Hiram) picked up her second goal in as many games at the 11th minute in the first half on a nice crossing shot from Senior striker Lily Futrell (Savannah).Futrell played very well, with several near misses on shots on goal as Brenau outshot Emmanuel 14-2 for the game. Freshman Shawna Rowley played an outstanding game at the defensive end as the Tigers controlled the action. "We just weren't as sharp today as I thought we should be and did not play inspired soccer," said Coach Mike Lochstampfor after the win. "However, we did play well enough to win against a team that defends very well and makes it tough to score." Next up for BU will be another conference game at Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL on Saturday.
