Schmucker's Hat Trick Leads Tigers to Win

Gainesville, GA- Senior forward Alyssa Schmucker scored three goals tonight as the Brenau soccer team raced past Brewton Parker 7-0 in SSAC action at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex. The Tigers take over first place in the conference at 3-0 and raise their season record to 7-2-1. Brewton Parker drops to 1-4 and 3-5. Brenau completely dominated the game, getting 21 shots on goal to one shot by the visitors.
Schmucker scored her first goal at the15:27 mark of the first half on an assist from Marilyn Anderson. She also scored the next two goals, both unassisted, at 39:16 and 11:00 of the second half. Shawna Manchette scored her first goal of the season at the 8:19 mark on an assist from Schmucker and at 7:04 Brewton Parker added insult to injury with an own goal off a shot by Anderson. Sarah Carlton got her first goal of the year at 1:12 and this week's Golden Tiger of the Week, Lily Futrell, finished things off with :38 left with an unassisted goal. "I thought we put more offensive pressure on tonight, which is something we have been working on in practice," said Coach Mike Lochstampfor. "It was nice to get some playing time for our young players and they all responded with quality play. I was especially pleased with the play of Schmucker, Anderson and Leanne Rowley." The Tigers will venture outside the conference this Saturday when they travel to Reinhardt for a 2 pm match.
