Brenau Falls to Shorter in SSAC Soccer

Gainesville, GA- The Shorter soccer team (6-7-1, 3-3-1) snapped Brenau's six game win streak tonight with a 2-0 win in SSAC action at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex. The Tigers lost their first conference game of the season to drop to 3-1, and 8-3-1 overall. Senior midfielder Marilyn Anderson was singled out by the Brenau coaches for her outstanding play in a game that was really a tale of two halves.During a scoreless first half the Tigers controlled play for the most part, displaying excellent passing and Goalkeeper Lisa Lesnick made several key saves. For the game, Brenau had 15 total shots and four shots on goal and Shorter had 16 total shots, six on goal. "We had some excellent opportunities to score, but just couldn't put the ball in the net. Both of their second half goals were due to defensive mistakes," said Coach Mike Lochstampfor. The Tigers will return to SSAC play Friday night, hosting Auburn Montgomery in a key game for conference standings.
