Tigers Fall to #2 Lee in Soccer

Cleveland, TN- The Brenau soccer team faced off against the NAIA Defending National Champions and currently ranked #2 Lee Flames tonight and fell by the score of 6-0. The TIgers finish their regular season at 9-6-2 and 4-3-1 in conference play, good enough for a tie for fourth place. Lee ran the table in the SSAC and finished 8-0 and 14-2 overall. Both teams will advance to the conference tournament, with Lee receiving a first round bye and Brenau traveling to Faulkner on Saturday.Lee opened up a 2-0 halftime lead and coasted home with four second half goals to seal the regular season conference championship. Brenau got solid play from its seniors, namely Lily Futrell and Marilyn Anderson, and also from Tori Futrell and Lisa Lesnick, who was under heavy attack all night and made several nice saves. "On a different night with all our players healthy, we might have given them a battle, but they are the real deal and proved to me tonight that they are good enough to win it all again," said Coach Mike Lochstampfor. "Our players gave a good effort, but their speed was just too much for us."
