Truett McConnell Slips Past Brenau

Cleveland, Ga - The Brenau soccer team played their second conference game of the season yesterday when they squared off with Truett McConnell and the Bears came away with a 2-1 decision. The Tigers fall to 2-8-1 and 0-2 and TMC moves to 7-6, 1-1.
Truett got off to a fast start, scoring the first two goals of the contest. Chalice Price found the back of the net at the 15 minute mark and Joy Smith followed that up at the 25 minute mark. Brenau's Lauren Hagin connected for the Tigers at about 30 minutes gone in the first half with the assist credited to Kirsty Smith.
The rest of the game was a defensive struggle as neither team was able to muster up a goal.
Brenau All Conference goalie, Lisa Lesnick had nine saves and Truett's Hayle Swinson had six in the evenly played match. BU had 15 total shots with seven on goal, while TMC had 18 shots with 11 on goal. The Tigers had seven corner kicks, compared to three for the Bears. Dola Obahor and Tori Futrell were singled out for their efforts in the game.
Brenau will continue conference play when they host NAIA #3 and defending National Champion Lee University at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex on Saturday with a 7 pm kickoff.
