Janay Hunt Named Golden Tiger of the Week

GAINESVILLE, Ga - The Brenau University athletics department has announced Janay Hunt as the first Golden Tiger of the Week, for the 2011-2012 school year.

Hunt, a sophomore defender, has demonstrated what a difference one year of experience can truly make. With the Golden Tiger's roster consisting of 9 freshmen and 10 upperclassmen, experience is something the team is yearning for.

In the first match of the season, the Alabama native was persistent in placing pressure on SCAD Savannah's offense. No matter the score, she led the team with her confidence and poise.

When asked, Coach Lochstampfor accredited his defense for the solid plays that the back four made. "They were constantly battling for the duration of the competition, and in no way was the score indicative of our level of play", he commented.

Between her agility and experience, Hunt has proven to be a threat to her offensive opponents. Although goals were made against Brenau, the number of opportunities was limited due to the relentless mindset the Golden Tigers.

The Brenau University soccer team will compete in two more matches this week. They will travel to Faulkner University (AL) on Tuesday, August 30th, and then hit the road again on Saturday, September 3rd to compete against Milligan College (TN).
