No. 2 Lee Defeats Brenau University
CLEVELAND, Tn - The Brenau University soccer team was on the road this weekend, traveling to play against No. 2 Lee University. The Lady Flames entered the match with an overall record of 11-2 (leading the SSAC, 8-0), while the Golden Tigers held an overall record of 5-5-3 (ranked 2nd in the East Division, 5-3 in SSAC).
The Lady Flames dominated the first half, by scoring 8 goals. Brenau's defense stayed busy against the quick and persistent offense. The Golden Tigers recorded 14 saves against Lee, in the first half alone.
At the start of the second half, Brenau attempted to take the momentum from the home team. The Golden Tigers were able to slow down the Lady Flames' offense holding them to only 6 shots in the final half, while Brenau managed to take 4 against the ranked defense.
Freshman forward, Jenny Knibbs (Doncaster, England) proved to be anything but timid against Lee. She led the Golden Tigers, in number of shots taken (with 3), and scored Brenau's one and only goal in the second half.
Tori Brown (Windermere, FL) was also aggressive throughout the match, attempting to act as a barricade between the Lady Flames and the goal. Brown recorded 15 saves, with the team earned 2 additional.
No. 2 Lee University defeated Brenau, 8-1.
The Golden Tigers look ahead to their next game. They are scheduled to travel to Brewton-Parker College on Saturday, October 22nd. The conference match will begin at 1pm.
