Head Soccer Coach, Mike Lochstampfor, announces the signing of Monica Sanchez to the soccer team for this fall. Sanchez currently resides in Parkland, FL where she recently graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS. She brings with her impressive credentials and will undoubtedly make a significant impact when she steps on the field for the first time this fall in a Golden Tigers uniform.
Most recently, Monica has played competitive soccer with the Miami Cagliari Calcio Strike Force U18 side where she has been very involved for the last 2 years. As part of her success with that club, her team was recognized for achieving a ranking in the top 20 nationally. Prior to her most recent club, she has competed for several other clubs in different age brackets- such as the Sunrise Elite FC U-17 team in 2010 and Team Boca FC in 2009. In 2008, her high school team achieved a #2 ranking in the state of Florida.
However, her most impressive accomplishment was her invitation to the Columbian National Team pool in 2008. As a dual citizen of both the United States and Columbia, Sanchez has had the opportunity to be a part of a high caliber of play both in the United States and abroad. She will undoubtedly make an impact for Brenau and an excited Coach Lochstampfor says of Monica," There is little doubt Monica's ability. She loves the game, loves to train and she will be able to step in to our team and be effective at once as a central midfield player. She does a great job of distributing the ball and is a great addition to our team!"
Sanchez has been exemplary on the academic side and most recently has been invited to take part in several national forums with various youth leadership organizations. Additionally, she was named to the National Society for High School Scholars based on some of her most recent academic achievements.
