Brenau Drops First Match of the Season
The Golden Tigers suffered their first loss of the 2012 season at the hands of the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College. Although Brenau outshot their opponents 18-16 for the match and had some great opportunities in the first half, they were unable to convert.
At the 51:41 mark of the second half, a defensive miscue resulted in the first goal for the visitors. They would go on to add two more goals in the span of ten minutes before Brenau was able to get settled and mount some offensive attacks of their own. For the visitors, Whitney Thomas scored the first goal and Allison Burnham added the next two to get the score to 3-0. The score would remain the same until the 80th minute when Brenau would get on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal by sophomore Kayla Madsen (Gainesville, GA). In goal for Brenau, Tori Brown (Windermere, FL) recorded 5 saves on the night.
Brenau will now be off for over a week as they prepare for the competitive SSAC portion of the season. Brenau will host conference rivals University of Mobile (AL) and Spring Hill College (AL) on September 21st and 22nd respectively. The University of Mobile is currently 4-1 on the season and ranked 4th in the NAIA. Spring Hill College is 3-3 on the young season. The Golden Tigers are now 4-1 on the year and Receiving Votes in the NAIA's Top 25 poll.
