Golden Tigers Soccer Team Wins First Conference Game
The win came against the Spring Hill College Badgers who had been defeated the evening before by Lee University.

Brenau's first goal came off of the foot of leading scorer, Esther Anyanwu (Lagos, Nigeria) from an assist by Linda Chukwuji (Lagos, Nigeria). That goal in the seventh minute would get Brenau's offense going as they would record twenty shots on the game to the visitor's nine.Twenty minutes later, sophomore, Kayla Madsen (Gainesville, GA), scored a nice goal off an assist from Anyanwu to get Brenau up by two goals. However, the visitorswere not about to giveup without a fight as Amanda Allen would get Spring Hill to within one goal heading into half-time.

The second half was a different game for both teams as the Golden Tigers came out in different formation intent on denying any momentum for Spring Hill. The result was two more goals for Brenau and very few scoring opportunities for the Badgers for the remainder of the match. In the 75th minute, it was once again the combination of Chukwuji and Anyanwu teaming up for Brenau's third goal as Chukwuji sent in a well-timed cross which Anyanwu settled with a deft touch and volleyed into the corner of the goal. Anyanwu would later contribute an assist in the 89th minute when she delivered a ball to Jenny Knibbs (Doncaster, England) who hit an 18 yard volley into the right side of the net for the final goal of the night.
Coach Lochstampfor was excited about the first conference
win of the season and commented, "The team played very well last night against
a very talented Mobile side and narrowly missed handing an upset to one of the
best teams in the nation. They expended a lot of energy and emotion in the
overtime game and the way they responded tonight against a strong Spring Hill
team was outstanding. I'm very proud of this team."
