Brenau Soccer Wins Another Conference Game
The Golden Tigers were aggressive offensively- recording 30 shots on the night against six for the visitors.
Brenau opened the scoring in the first half of play with the combination of Kayla Madsen (Gainesville, Ga.) and Jenny Knibbs (Doncaster, England) teaming up to get the Tigers first goal - Madsen scoring the goal. That same combination took place minutes later with Madsen once again getting on the end of a Knibbs pass to give the Tigers a 2-0 half-time lead.
Brenau went into the second half with the same attacking mindset and put three more goals on the scoreboard before the night was over. Freshman, Monica Sanchez (Miami, Fla.) equaled Madsen's effort with two goals of her own. Rachel Zarach (Acworth, Ga.) contributed on one of Sanchez's goals and senior, Taylor Bates (Locust Grove, Ga.) added an assist of her own. Knibbs added a goal from a Madsen assist late in the game when she hit a brilliant volley into the upper corner of the net.
Defensively, the Tigers were solid all night, not allowing any dangerous opportunities for the visitors. In goal for Brenau, Tori Brown (Windermere, Fla.) recorded one save on the night and Taryn Ruess (High Spring, Fla.) recorded a save of her own in the shared shutout by both goalkeepers. The Warriors recorded 12 saves for the game.
Next up for the Golden Tigers is a trip to Cleveland, Ga. on Saturday to take on the Truett-McConnell Bears in another SSAC match up. The Bears have an overall record of 5-5 overall, 1-3 in the SSAC. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
