Brenau Soccer Adds All-Conference Selection
The Golden Tiger's soccer team has acquired another forward to add to an offense that ranked second in scoring in the SSAC in 2012 while averaging over 3 goals a game. Vanessa Alexander, Toronto, Canada has signed to play for Brenau this fall and will likely contribute more than goals to this year's offense.
Alexander ranked nationally in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) with 11 assists on a Georgia Perimeter College team that established a 16-1 regular season record. Alexander was a major contributor to that record as she accounted for 9 goals in addition to her assist total. For her efforts, she received First Team All-Conference recognition in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) last fall.
Vanessa has been playing soccer at a high level, beginning with her youth play in Toronto. She was invited as a U-14 player to train at Canada's National Training Camp which continued for the next two years. Head Coach Mike Lochstampfor, described her as "that type of player that can turn a game around offensively. She will immediately be able to step in and combine with any of our attacking players and compliment their play and our overall offense. She is a very crafty player that can deliver a great pass but can just as comfortably score goals herself. Vanessa is a great addition to our team and we look forward to having her join us this fall."
Alexander attended the Richview Collegiate Institute in Toronto prior to her joining Laramie County Community College's (WY) team in 2011. Vanessa plans on majoring in Health Science at Brenau with her ultimate goal to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.
