Soccer Signs Standout Transfer
Brenau soccer announces the signing of Millie York to the 2014-2015 team.
York is a transfer from Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kansas, where she was a 2013-2014 First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region selection.
A native of Hove, England, the defender was the Hove Park High School 2007 Sports Personality of the Year and the 2010 Chelsea Academy Player of the Year.
From 2009-2011, York trained with the Chelsea Academy, the youth team of the Chelsea Football Club, and in 2011 trained with the Chelsea Ladies Reserves, the under-21 reserve team. She has also obtained a Level 1 Certification in Coaching Football.
According to head coach Mike Lochstampfor, York is expected to have a solid impact on his #17 ranked Golden Tigers squad.
"Millie is a tremendous addition to our program and I'm so excited that she's chosen to attend Brenau University and play soccer", said Lochstampfor. "She has a phenomenal work ethic, is talented and experienced and has a great passion for the game! I was impressed with her in many ways throughout the recruiting process and believe she fits the role of a solid central midfield player that can step in and fill some big shoes for us. She is equally driven to excel academically and will be a great fit for the university."
The Golden Tigers will kick off the 2014 season on August 23rd against Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan College. The match is scheduled for a 7pm start at Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville, Ga.
