Knibbs Named SSAC Offensive Player of the Week
Jenny Knibbs has been named the SSAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. The senior was chosen for her performances during the week of Sept. 15-21.
Knibbs tallied nine points in Brenau's win over previously unbeaten Reinhardt (Ga.), 5-1, and draw with No. 4-ranked Northwood (Fla.), 3-3.
The midfielder assisted Kayla Madsen on what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 27th minute against Reinhardt and then added two goals of her own in the 65th and 75thminutes.
Knibbs followed that performance by netting two goals within a two-minute span to secure the Golden Tigers' draw with Northwood. The Doncaster, England native found the back of the net on a free kick from just outside the penalty box in the 68th minute and repeated the feat in the 69th minute for the game-tying goal—again on a free kick from outside the 18-yard box.
Knibbs—who finished the 2013 season ranked second in the SSAC in assists (11) and assists per game (.58)—currently ranks among the top 10 in the conference in nearly every offensive category. She's tied for second in total points (13) and points per game (1.86), tied for third in total goals (5) and third in goals per game (.71). She also stands among the top 10 in the SSAC in total assists (4th, 3), assists per game (7th, .43), shots per game (7th, 3.86) and shots on goal per game (5th, 2.43).
As the conference selection, Knibbs will be automatically nominated for the NAIA Women's Soccer Player of the Week award.
