Slate Signs With Brenau Soccer
The Brenau soccer team announces the signing of Cheyenne Slate to the 2016-17 team.
Slate is a standout player from University High School in DeBary, Florida and also competed for the U18 Port Orange Hurricanes soccer club.
During her high school career, Slate was selected as an All-County second team performer and also helped her club team to first place finishes at the Orange Classic and the Region Cup, as well as a second place finish in the President's Cup.
An outstanding student, Slate serves as a STEM Academy ambassador, a Dual Academy completer and was selected as a future leader of Volusia Country. She is also a state referee and a licensed soccer coach.
Slate noted about her commitment to Brenau, "When I came for a tour, I fell in love with the campus. I felt at home while at Brenau and the school gave me an amazing opportunity academically to get involved in the field I want to major in."
"I also thought the team was amazing, the girls really made me feel like part of the team already and I loved the competition."
Head coach Mike Lochstampfor expressed enthusiasm about his latest recruit, saying, ""It's great to know that Cheyenne will be a member of our team this fall and I'm elated to have her join our program! She will add a great deal of depth to our back line as an experienced defender, she loves the game, and has the ability to fill several roles for our team right away!"
Slate, the daughter of Diana Bozzella and Troy Slate, plans on majoring in Biology at Brenau.
