Soccer Picked Sixth in SSAC Preseason Poll
The Brenau University soccer team was selected sixth in the 2016-17 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Soccer Coaches' preseason poll, the conference announced on Wednesday.
The Golden Tigers, who finished in sixth place in 2015-16, return 15 players from last year's squad, including 10 rising sophomores. Brenau also adds six talented newcomers as Ellie Johnson, Tammy Pham, Alexis Satterfield, Cheyenne Slate, Kyree Taylor and Iman Williams join the program.
Defending champion William Carey (Miss.) University was voted as the preseason favorites with 77 total votes, including five first-place votes. Mobile (71 votes), Martin Methodist (68), Middle Georgia (51) and Bethel (43) rounded out the top five vote getters.
Brenau opens the regular season on August 30th against Point (Ga.) University at 7 pm at Allen Creek Soccer Complex.
