Soccer Routs Point In Season Opener
The Brenau soccer team used a potent offensive attack to win the opening match of the 2016 season in a 4-0 rout over visiting Point (Ga.) University (2-1-1) on Tuesday in Gainesville.
Fifteen minutes into the match, senior Jasmine Brewster notched the first goal of the season off a feed from sophomore Jada Foor to make the score 1-0. In the 44th minute, freshman Alexis Satterfield earned the first of her two assists as she helped Taylor Bennett find the back of the net to take a 2-0 lead into intermission.
After the break, the Golden Tigers scored quickly when at the 48:14 mark, senior Megan Chandler scored off of a Satterfield pass to increase the score to 3-0. Finally, in the 84th minute, Jensen Meaux knocked home her first goal of the season to close out the match 4-0.
Ashley Spring saved 10 shots on goal for the Golden Tigers, while Point goalie Natalie Brown saved six shots for the Skyhawks. Both teams attempted 18 shots each during the match.
Brenau (1-0 overall) next travels to SCAD-Savannah (RV) on Saturday for a 6 pm non-conference matchup.
