Soccer Defeats SCAD-Savannah For Second Win
One first half goal and stout defensive play led the Brenau soccer team to a 1-0 road win over SCAD-Savannah on Saturday in Savannah.
After playing the host Bees even for much of the first half, Jensen Meaux found the back of the net at the 35:32 mark to give the Golden Tigers an early lead. For Meaux, a sophomore from Winter Springs, Fla., the goal was her second in two games.
During the second half, the Golden Tigers defense held the Bees offense in check, allowing no goals to secure their second shutout of the early season.
Golden Tigers goalkeeper Anela Melton earned the shutout with six saves on 17 shots to earn the win, while the Bees' keeper Ande Eich allowed one goal and earned five saves against 15 shots.
The win improved Brenau's record to 2-0, while the loss dropped the Bees, who are receiving votes in the NAIA top-25, to 1-4.
Brenau (2-0 overall) next travels to USC-Beaufort for a 1 pm Monday match. Livestreaming can be found here.
