Soccer Falls 3-1 to St. Andrews
Two late goals allowed St. Andrews (NC) University to pull away from the Brenau soccer team 3-1 in a non-conference matchup on Thursday in Laurinburg.
The Golden Tigers started the match off well as sophomore Maddie Corley found teammate Iman Williams who scored for a 1-0 lead. For Corley, the assist marked her third of the season and tied her for the team lead with freshman Alexis Satterfield.
Brenau held the lead until the 57th minute when the Knights' Arianna Brown tied up the match 1-1.
In the 76th minute, the Knights (7-2-1 overall) took the lead on Hannah Baptiste's goal, and then Anna Werneth helped seal the game with a goal in the 88th minute.
The Golden Tigers outshot the Knights 12-10 in the match, while Brenau keeper Anela Melton saved four shots and allowed all three goals in the loss.
Brenau (5-6 overall, 1-2 SSAC) returns to conference play on Saturday when Faulkner (Ala.) Universityvisits Allen Creek Park in Gainesville for a 5:00 pm match.
