Chandler Leads Soccer Past Oglethorpe
A clutch second half goal helped the Brenau soccer team earn a 2-1 victory over Oglethorpe (Ga.) University in a Wednesday non-conference matchup in Atlanta.
Megan Chandler scored twice and the Golden Tigers offense outshot the Petrels 19-6 to close out their seventh win of the season.
In the 25th minute, Chandler scored an early unassisted goal, while keeper Ashley Spring kept the host off of the scoreboard for the remainder of the first half to take a 1-0 lead into intermission.
In the 65th minute, the Petrels' Kayla Trice scored the equalizer to even the match at one goal apiece.
Just over two minutes later, however, Chandler took a Taylor Bennett pass and found the back of the net for the winning goal. The assist marked the fourth of the season for Bennett, which leads the Golden Tigers.
Brenau (7-6 overall, 2-2 overall) hosts Dalton State (Ga.) University on Friday at 5 pm in Gainesville. The Golden Tigers will hold Senior Day festivities to honor seniors Jasmine Brewster and Megan Chandler.
