Early Goals Doom Soccer Against #3 Martin Methodist
Two early goals thwarted the Brenau soccer team's upset bid in a 2-0 loss to #3 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) University in Southern States Athletic Conference play on Thursday in Pulaski, Tenn.
The Redhawks got on the scoreboard at the 11:47 mark as Linzi Taylor scored to make the score 1-0. In the 23rd minute, Taylor then assisted on a Katie Reid goal to give the host team a 2-0 lead.
The Golden Tiger offense struggled to find openings as the team only managed seven shots in the match.
Brenau keeper Ashley Spring stopped seven shots on goal, while the Redhawks' Caitlin Dumond stopped three shots in the victory.
Brenau (7-8 overall, 2-4 SSAC) wraps up the regular season slate on Saturday against Bethel (Tenn.) University in McKenzie, Tennessee. The match begins at 1 pm eastern/12 central.
