Soccer Closes Out Regular Season At Bethel
The Brenau soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 2-1 loss against Bethel (Tenn.) University in Southern States Athletic Conference play on Saturday in McKenzie, Tennessee.
Bethel scored almost immediately as Melinda Sopka gave her team a 1-0 lead at only 1:42 in the match.
Brenau answered in the 41st minute as Iman Williams scored off of a Maddie Corley assist to even the match at 1-1.
However, the Golden Tigers couldn't sustain the momentum as the host Wildcats answered in the 44th minute to regain the lead and ultimately clinch the match.
Bethel outshot Brenau 16-7, while Golden Tiger keeper Ashley Spring saved nine shots in the loss.
Brenau (7-9 overall, 2-5 SSAC) now awaits their opening round opponent in the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament. Time, opponent and location will be announced when available.
