Montreat Edges Past Brenau Soccer

The Brenau soccer team lost a close 1-0 contest to Montreat (NC) College in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Friday in Montreat, NC.
In the 27th minute, the Cavaliers' Alanna Castaneda scored the lone goal of the match, which was enough to secure the victory.
The Golden Tigers outshot the host Cavaliers 17-11 for the match, including an 11-5 shot advantage in the first period, but were unable to find the back of the net. Montreat keeper Jordan DeVaan earned the win with 10 saves, while Brenau keeper Anela Melton notched three saves between the pipes.
Brenau (0-4-2) next hosts Columbia (SC) College on Wednesday at 5:30 pm in Gainesville.
